Preparing the Patties

Make the Patty Mixture
In a large bowl, combine the Black Angus ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined.

Form the Patties
Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions and shape each into a patty, about 1-inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Toast the Buns
While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

Layer the Ingredients
On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf followed by a cooked patty with melted cheese. Add two tomato slices and two pickle slices on top of the patty. Spread 1 tablespoon of ketchup and ½ tablespoon of mustard on the top half of the bun.

Complete the Burger
Place the top half of the bun on the assembled burger and press down gently. Repeat for the second burger.
