Prepare the Beef Patty
In a bowl, combine the Black Angus ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently to avoid overworking the meat.

Form the Patty
Shape the mixture into a single patty approximately 1 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center to prevent puffing during cooking.

Flip and Add Cheese
Flip the patty and place the slice of American cheese on top. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the patty reaches your desired doneness.
Sautéing Onions

Prepare the Onions
Slice half a cup of onion into thin rings.

Toast the Bun
Optionally, toast the burger bun on the grill or in a toaster until lightly browned.

Assemble the Burger
Spread the special sauce on the bottom half of the bun. Layer with lettuce, the grilled patty with melted cheese, sautéed onions, slices of tomato, and pickles. Top with the other half of the bun.
