Method

Patty Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef Patty

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined to avoid overworking the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patty

Shape the beef mixture into a single patty approximately 1-inch thick. Ensure the patty is slightly larger than the burger bun, as it will shrink while cooking.

Cooking the Patty

  1. 3

    Grill the Patty

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, place the beef patty on the grill. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side until a nice crust forms.

  2. 4

    Flip the Patty

Carefully flip the patty and place a slice of pepper jack cheese on top. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, until the cheese melts and the patty reaches your desired doneness.

Prepare the Toppings

  1. 5

    Grill the Onions

While the patty is cooking, slice the onion into thin rings. Place them on the grill or in a skillet with a little oil and cook until they are soft and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 6

    Prepare the Jalapeños

Slice the jalapeños into thin rounds. You can remove the seeds for a milder flavor or leave them for extra heat.

  3. 7

    Slice the Tomato

While the patty is cooking, slice the tomato into thick slices and set aside.

Burger Assembly

  1. 8

    Assemble the Burger

On the bottom half of the burger bun, spread the Duke's® Mayonnaise. Place the cooked beef patty with melted cheese on top, followed by the grilled onions, jalapeños, lettuce, and tomato. Top with the other half of the bun.
