Method

Prepare Homemade Chili

  1. 1

    Cook the Meat

In a large pot over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.

  2. 2

    Add Vegetables

Add chopped onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic to the pot. Sauté until onions are translucent.

  3. 3

    Season and Simmer

Stir in canned diced tomatoes, chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Let simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Cook Italian Sausage

  1. 4

    Brown the Sausage

In a separate skillet over medium heat, cook the Italian sausage, breaking it apart with a spoon until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat.

Assemble Nachos

  1. 5

    Layer Ingredients

On a large baking sheet, spread out the tortilla chips. Top with refried beans, homemade chili, cooked Italian sausage, and shredded Monterey Jack cheese.

  2. 6

    Add Cheese Sauce

Drizzle the white cheese sauce over the top of the nachos.

Final Touches

  1. 7

    Broil

Preheat the oven broiler. Place the nachos under the broiler for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  2. 8

    Serve

Remove from the oven and top with shredded lettuce, sliced jalapeños, and pico de gallo. Serve with a side of sour cream.
