Mussels and Broth

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Clean the Mussels

Rinse the mussels under cold water and scrub the shells to remove any dirt or debris. Remove the beards (the fibrous threads) from the mussels.

  2. 2

    Sauté Aromatics

In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and chopped shallots, sautéing until the shallots are translucent.

  3. 3

    Add Wine and Mussels

Pour in the white wine and bring to a simmer. Add the cleaned mussels to the pot, cover it, and cook for about 5-7 minutes until the mussels open up.

  4. 4

    Finish the Dish

Once the mussels are opened, remove them from the heat. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the mussels, sprinkle with chopped parsley, and season with salt and black pepper to taste.
