Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the American Wagyu steak from the refrigerator and let it rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This helps the steak cook more evenly.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Pat the steak dry with paper towels. Generously season both sides with salt and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Heat the Pan

In a heavy skillet or cast-iron pan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.

  4. 4

    Sear the Steak

Add the steak to the pan and sear for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it, until a deep brown crust forms.

  5. 5

    Flip and Add Butter

Flip the steak and add the butter and rosemary (or thyme) to the pan. Continue to cook for another 3-4 minutes, basting the steak with the melted butter.

  6. 6

    Check for Doneness

Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. For medium-rare, it should read 130°F (54°C). Adjust cooking time as needed for your preferred doneness.

  7. 7

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest for at least 5 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.

  8. 8

    Serve

Slice against the grain and serve immediately. Enjoy your perfectly cooked American Wagyu steak!
