Oysters
Method
Preparation
- 1
Shucking the Oysters
Using an oyster knife, carefully shuck each oyster by inserting the knife into the hinge of the oyster shell and twisting it to pry it open. Be cautious of the sharp edges and the juice inside. Remove the top shell and ensure the oyster remains on the bottom shell with its juices.
- 2
Cleaning
Once shucked, use a small spoon to gently detach the oyster from the bottom shell if necessary. Discard any broken shells and clean the oysters under cold water if needed to remove any grit.
- 3
Preparing the Serving Platter
On a large serving platter, spread a layer of rock salt to create a stable base. This will help keep the oysters upright and prevent them from tipping over.
- 4
Arranging the Oysters
Place the shucked oysters on top of the layer of rock salt, ensuring they are well spaced and presented beautifully.
- 5
Garnishing
Arrange lemon wedges around the oysters for garnish. You can also place a small bowl of cocktail sauce and a bottle of hot sauce on the side for dipping.
