Cobbler Base

Method

Cobbler Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures the cobbler cooks evenly.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Fruit

Wash and chop the fresh fruit into bite-sized pieces. If using peaches, peel them first. Place the fruit in a large bowl and mix in half of the sugar (½ cup). Let it sit for about 10 minutes to release juices.

  3. 3

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and the remaining sugar (½ cup).

  4. 4

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, combine the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix well until fully combined.

  5. 5

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.

  6. 6

    Assemble the Cobbler

In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, pour the batter evenly across the bottom. Spoon the prepared fruit mixture over the batter, ensuring even distribution.

  7. 7

    Bake

Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve with Ice Cream

Once the cobbler has cooled slightly, cut into squares and serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.

  2. 9

    Add Whipped Cream

Top with whipped cream and sprinkle with cinnamon if desired for an extra touch.
