Cooking Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Wash and Prepare Collard Greens

Rinse the collard greens thoroughly under cold water to remove any dirt. Remove the tough stems and chop the leaves into bite-sized pieces.

  2. 2

    Chop Vegetables

Peel and finely chop the garlic and onion. Remove the seeds from the red bell pepper and chop it into small pieces.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Sauté the Aromatics

In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, garlic, and red bell pepper. Sauté for about 5 minutes, or until the onions are translucent and fragrant.

  2. 4

    Add Collard Greens

Stir in the chopped collard greens and cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until they start to wilt.

  3. 5

    Add Broth and Seasonings

Pour in the vegetable broth, then add the apple cider vinegar, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir to combine.

  4. 6

    Simmer

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and let it simmer for 30-35 minutes, or until the collard greens are tender.

  5. 7

    Serve

Remove from heat and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve hot, garnished with additional red pepper flakes if desired.
