Fries

Method

Preparing the Fries

  1. 1

    Cut and Soak Potatoes

Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips (about 1/4 inch thick). Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

  2. 2

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Season Fries

Drain and dry the soaked potatoes thoroughly. In a large bowl, toss the potatoes with olive oil, salt, pepper, and paprika until evenly coated.

  4. 4

    Bake Fries

Spread the seasoned potatoes in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, flipping halfway through for even cooking.

Preparing the Toppings

  1. 5

    Cook the Steak

In a skillet over medium-high heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Season the ribeye steak with salt and pepper, then sear it in the hot skillet for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare. Remove the steak and let it rest before slicing thinly against the grain.

  2. 6

    Sauté Onions and Mushrooms

In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of butter. Add the sliced onion and mushrooms, and sprinkle with garlic powder. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the onions are translucent and the mushrooms are tender.

Assembling the Dish

  1. 7

    Combine Toppings

In a large serving dish, layer the crispy fries. Top them with the sliced steak, sautéed onions, and mushrooms.

  2. 8

    Add Cheese

Evenly distribute the white American cheese over the hot toppings. Optionally, you can place the dish back in the oven for 2-3 minutes to melt the cheese further.

  3. 9

    Serve

Serve the cheesesteak fries hot, garnished with additional seasonings or chopped parsley if desired.
