Main Ingredients

Method

Preparing the Sopes

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a large bowl, combine the corn masa, water, and salt. Mix with your hands until a soft dough forms. The dough should be moist but not sticky. If it feels too dry, add a little more water.

  2. 2

    Shape the Sopes

Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, then flatten it into a disc about 1/2 inch thick. Use your fingers to pinch the edges of each disc to form a raised border, creating a little 'bowl' for the toppings.

  3. 3

    Cook the Sopes

Heat a skillet or comal over medium-high heat. Once hot, place the shaped sopes on the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until they start to get golden brown and slightly crispy. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Assembling the Sopes

  1. 4

    Top with Ingredients

Once the sopes have cooled, begin to assemble. Start by adding a layer of shredded lettuce to each sope.

  2. 5

    Add Radishes and Crema

Next, add a handful of thinly sliced radishes on top of the lettuce. Drizzle with crema to add richness.

  3. 6

    Sprinkle Queso Fresco

Sprinkle crumbled queso fresco over the top for a tangy flavor.

  4. 7

    Finish with Salsa Verde

Finally, spoon salsa verde over each sope, adding a fresh and zesty finish.
