Method

Chips

  1. 1

    Prepare Corn Tortillas

Stack the corn tortillas and cut them into triangle-shaped wedges, approximately 6 pieces per tortilla.

  2. 2

    Heat Oil

In a large pot or deep skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  3. 3

    Fry Tortilla Chips

Carefully add a batch of tortilla wedges to the hot oil. Fry them for about 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove the chips and place them on a paper towel-lined plate.

  4. 4

    Season with Salt

While the chips are still hot, sprinkle them with salt to taste. Repeat the frying process with the remaining tortilla wedges.

Salsa

  1. 5

    Chop Vegetables

Dice the tomatoes, red onion, and jalapeño pepper into small pieces. If you prefer less heat, remove the seeds from the jalapeño before dicing.

  2. 6

    Prepare Cilantro

Rinse the cilantro under cold water, shake off excess moisture, and chop it roughly.

  3. 7

    Mix Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, red onion, jalapeño pepper, and chopped cilantro.

  4. 8

    Add Lime Juice and Salt

Pour the lime juice over the mixture and add 1 tsp of salt. Stir everything together until well combined.

  5. 9

    Taste and Adjust

Taste the salsa and adjust seasoning with additional salt or lime juice if necessary. Let it sit for at least 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
