Method
Prepare Burger Patties
- 1
Mix the Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined; do not overwork the meat.
- 2
Form Patties
Divide the meat mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about 3/4 inch thick. Use your thumb to create a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.
Make Specialty Sauce
- 3
Combine Sauce Ingredients
In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and paprika until smooth and well blended.
Cook Patties
- 4
Preheat Grill
Preheat your charbroiler or grill to medium-high heat.
- 5
Cook the Patties
Place the burger patties on the grill. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
- 6
Add Cheese (Optional)
If using cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking and close the grill lid to melt.
Assemble Burgers
- 7
Toast Buns (Optional)
If desired, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill until golden brown.
- 8
Build the Burger
Spread the specialty sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Place a lettuce leaf on top, followed by the cooked patty. Add tomato slices, pickles if desired, and finish with the top half of the bun.
