Prepare the Apples
In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples with granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and lemon juice. Toss until the apples are evenly coated. Set aside to let the mixture marinate for about 15 minutes.

Make the Crust
In a separate bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, brown sugar, rolled oats, and ground cinnamon. Add the softened butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Combine Filling and Crust
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spread the apple mixture evenly across the bottom. Then, sprinkle the crumb crust mixture evenly over the top of the apples.

Bake the Apple Crisp
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.

Prepare the Whipped Cream
While the apple crisp is baking, in a mixing bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream with an electric mixer on medium speed until soft peaks form. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, continuing to beat until stiff peaks form.

Once the apple crisp is done baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool slightly. Serve warm, topped with a generous dollop of whipped cream.
