Method
Preparation of Pickles
- 1
Slice the Pickles
If using whole dill pickles, slice them into 1/4 inch thick chips. Set aside.
Breading Station
- 2
Prepare the Breading
In a shallow bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- 3
Coating the Pickles
- 4
Coat the Pickles
Dip each pickle slice first into the flour mixture, then into the egg mixture, and finally back into the flour mixture to ensure an even coating.
Frying the Pickles
- 5
Heat Oil
In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat about 2 inches of oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 6
Fry the Pickles
Carefully add the coated pickles to the hot oil in batches. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown, turning occasionally. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fried pickles to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Ranch Dressing Preparation
- 7
Mix the Ranch Dressing
In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, dried dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until smooth and well combined.
- 8
Chill the Dressing
Cover and refrigerate the ranch dressing for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
Serving
- 9
Serve
Serve the golden brown breaded dill pickles hot with a side of cool ranch dressing for dipping.
