Prepare the Bread
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Tear the stale bread into bite-sized pieces and place them in a large mixing bowl.

Mix Ingredients
Pour the liquid mixture over the bread pieces and gently fold in the raisins or currants. Let it sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the liquid.

Bake
Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is lightly browned and the pudding is set.
Bourbon Sauce

Prepare the Sauce
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the brown sugar and stir until dissolved.

Add Cream and Bourbon
Slowly whisk in the heavy cream and bring the mixture to a gentle boil. Remove from heat and stir in the bourbon and vanilla extract.

Serve
Serve the warm bread pudding drizzled with the bourbon sauce.
