Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Mix well to distribute the salt evenly.
- 3
Combine Ingredients
Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and add the activated yeast mixture along with warm water. Mix until a dough begins to form.
- 4
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. If the dough is sticky, add a little more flour as needed.
- 5
Incorporate Butter
Add the unsalted butter to the dough and knead for another 5 minutes until the butter is fully incorporated and the dough is soft and pliable.
- 6
First Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Shaping and Second Rise
- 7
Shape the Dough
After the first rise, punch down the dough to release the air. Divide into equal portions (about 10 pieces) and shape each piece into a ball.
- 8
Second Rise
Place the shaped dough balls in a greased baking dish, close together but not touching. Cover with a cloth and let them rise for another 30-40 minutes until puffed.
Baking
- 9
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 10
- 11
Bake the Bread
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the tops are golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped.
- 12
Cool
Remove from the oven and let them cool in the pan for a few minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
