Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Preparation of Rice

Rinse the basmati rice under cold running water until the water runs clear. Soak it in water for 30 minutes, then drain.

  2. 2

    Cooking Rice

In a large pot, bring the milk to a boil. Add the soaked and drained rice to the boiling milk. Cook on medium heat, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking, for about 20-25 minutes or until the rice is fully cooked and soft.

  3. 3

    Adding Sugar and Flavorings

Once the rice is cooked, stir in the sugar, cardamom powder, and saffron. Continue to cook for an additional 10 minutes, stirring frequently until the sugar dissolves completely.

  4. 4

    Incorporating Nuts and Dry Fruits

In a separate pan, lightly roast the almonds, cashews, and raisins on low heat until they are golden brown. Add the roasted nuts and dry fruits to the kheer and mix well.

  5. 5

    Serving

Remove the kheer from heat and let it cool for a few minutes. Serve warm or chilled in bowls, garnished with additional nuts if desired.
