Dough

Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Make a well in the center of the flour mixture. Add the activated yeast mixture, yogurt, and olive oil. Mix until a dough starts to form.

  4. 4

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface. Knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  5. 5

    Let Dough Rise

Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Filling Preparation

  1. 6

    Cook Chicken Mixture

In a skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent. Stir in ginger-garlic paste and green chili, cooking for another minute.

  2. 7

    Add Spices and Chicken

Add ground chicken, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt. Cook until the chicken is thoroughly cooked, about 10-12 minutes. Stir in chopped cilantro and remove from heat.

Assembly and Cooking

  1. 8

    Divide Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into equal portions (about 6-8). Roll each portion into a ball.

  2. 9

    Roll Out Naan

On a floured surface, take one ball of dough and roll it out into an oval shape, about 1/4 inch thick.

  3. 10

    Add Filling

Place a spoonful of the chicken filling in the center of the rolled-out dough. Fold the edges over the filling and pinch to seal, shaping it back into a naan.

  4. 11

    Cook Naan

Preheat a skillet or a tandoor over high heat. Cook each naan for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and puffed up. You may brush with butter or ghee if desired.

  5. 12

    Serve

Serve warm with your choice of dipping sauce or curry.
