Method
Marinating the Fish
- 1
Prepare the Fish
In a bowl, combine tilapia fillets with lemon juice, salt, turmeric powder, and red chili powder. Mix well to coat the fish evenly.
- 2
Marinate
Let the fish marinate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to penetrate.
Preparing the Batter
- 3
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a bowl, combine chickpea flour, rice flour, baking soda, salt, coriander powder, cumin powder, and ajwain.
- 4
Add Water
Gradually add water to the dry ingredients, mixing until you have a smooth batter. The batter should be thick enough to coat the fish.
Frying the Fish Pakora
- 5
Heat Oil
In a deep frying pan, heat oil over medium-high heat until hot.
- 6
Coat Fish
Dip each marinated tilapia fillet into the prepared batter, ensuring it is well coated.
- 7
Fry Fish
Carefully drop the coated fish into the hot oil. Fry in batches to avoid overcrowding, cooking until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes on each side.
- 8
Drain Excess Oil
Remove the fried fish pakoras from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- 9
Garnish and Serve
Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with chutney or sauce of your choice.
