Method
Filling Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Crab Mixture
In a medium mixing bowl, combine the crab meat, cream cheese, chopped green onions, garlic powder, chili sauce, soy sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated and the mixture is creamy.
Assemble the Rangoons
- 2
Fill the Wonton Wrappers
Place a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the crab filling into the center of the wrapper. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water using your finger or a brush. Fold the wrapper over the filling to create a triangle shape, pressing the edges to seal tightly. Repeat this process with the remaining wrappers and filling.
Frying
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F). You can test the oil by dropping a small piece of wonton wrapper into it; if it sizzles and floats, the oil is ready.
- 4
Fry the Rangoons
Carefully add the filled wontons to the hot oil, a few at a time, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove the rangoons from the oil and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
Serving
- 5
Serve Hot
Arrange the crispy crab rangoons on a serving platter. Serve immediately with additional chili sauce or sweet and sour sauce for dipping.
