Soybeans
Method
Preparation
- 1
Soak the Soybeans
In a large bowl, add 1 cup of dried soybeans and cover them with 4 cups of water. Allow the soybeans to soak for at least 8 hours or overnight. This will help soften the beans and reduce cooking time.
- 2
Drain and Rinse
Once the soaking time is complete, drain the soybeans and rinse them thoroughly under cold running water. This helps remove any anti-nutrients and impurities.
- 3
Cook the Soybeans
In a large pot, add the soaked soybeans and enough fresh water to cover them by about 2 inches. Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let the soybeans simmer for about 1 to 1.5 hours or until they are tender.
- 4
Season with Sea Salt
Once the soybeans are tender, stir in 1 teaspoon of sea salt. Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Let it simmer for an additional 5 minutes to allow the salt to dissolve and incorporate.
- 5
Serve
Remove from heat and let the soybeans cool slightly. They can be served warm as a side dish, added to salads, or used in various recipes.
