Cheese and Toppings

Bun Preparation

Method

Burger Patties Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently to combine without overworking the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the beef mixture into 4 equal portions (about 4 oz each). Shape them into loose balls without compacting too tightly.

Cooking the Burgers

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Heat a cast-iron skillet or grill over high heat until very hot.

  2. 4

    Smash and Cook

Place two meat balls on the skillet and use a spatula to smash them down into thin patties. Cook for 2-3 minutes until a crust forms. Flip, add a slice of cheese to each patty, and cook for another 1-2 minutes until the cheese is melted.

  3. 5

    Repeat

Remove the first two patties and repeat the smashing and cooking process with the remaining two meat balls.

Making the Burger Sauce

  1. 6

    Combine Ingredients

In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, ketchup, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper to taste. Adjust seasoning as needed.

Preparing the Buns

  1. 7

    Toast the Buns

In a small skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Place the brioche buns cut-side down in the skillet and toast until golden brown.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 8

    Build the Burger

Spread the burger sauce on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Layer with the two cheese-topped patties, followed by diced onions and house-made pickles. Top with the other half of the bun.
