Method
For the Fried Chicken
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a medium bowl, combine the buttermilk and the chicken breasts. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
- 2
Prepare the Breading
In a shallow dish, mix together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- 3
Bread the Chicken
Remove the marinated chicken from the refrigerator. Dredge each piece in the seasoned flour, shaking off any excess.
- 4
Fry the Chicken
In a large skillet, heat the cooking oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the breaded chicken pieces. Fry for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
For the Biscuits
- 5
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
- 6
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- 7
Cut in the Butter
Cut the cold butter into the dry ingredients using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- 8
Add Milk
Stir in the milk until just combined. Do not overmix.
- 9
Shape the Biscuits
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and pat it into a 1-inch thick rectangle. Cut out biscuits using a biscuit cutter or a glass.
- 10
Bake
Place the biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
