Biscuit Ingredients

Method

Biscuit Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt, whisking until evenly mixed.

  3. 3

    Cut in Butter

Add the unsalted butter to the flour mixture and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  4. 4

    Add Buttermilk

Pour in the buttermilk and gently stir with a spatula until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 5

    Form the Biscuits

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Gently pat the dough into a 1-inch thick rectangle. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  6. 6

    Bake the Biscuits

Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown on top.

Egg and Meat Preparation

  1. 7

    Cook the Eggs

In a skillet over medium heat, crack the eggs and cook them to your preference (scrambled, fried, or poached). Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  2. 8

    Prepare the Meat

If using bacon, cook until crispy. If using sausage, crumble and cook until browned. Drain any excess oil.

  3. 9

    Assemble the Breakfast Biscuit

Slice the warm biscuits in half. Layer with cooked eggs, shredded cheddar cheese, and cooked bacon or sausage. Place the top half of the biscuit on and serve immediately.
