Biscuit Preparation

Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.

Cut in Butter
Cut in the unsalted butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Add Buttermilk
Pour in the buttermilk and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

Form Biscuits
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and pat it into a 1-inch thick round. Cut out biscuits using a biscuit cutter or a glass.

Bake Biscuits
Place biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool slightly.
Burger Patty Preparation

Prepare Patties
In a bowl, combine ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Form into 4 equal patties.

Cook Patties
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until cooked to your desired doneness.

Add Cheese
During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover the skillet to melt the cheese.
Special Sauce Preparation

Mix Sauce Ingredients
In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, ketchup, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, and hot sauce to taste. Stir until smooth.
Assembly

Assemble the Burger
Slice the biscuits in half and layer the burger patty with melted cheese on the bottom half. Add a generous spoonful of special sauce, and top with lettuce, tomato, and pickles if desired. Place the top biscuit half on top.
