Biscuits

Method

Biscuits

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Cut in Butter

Cut the unsalted butter into small cubes and add it to the dry ingredients. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

  4. 4

    Add Buttermilk

Make a well in the center of the mixture and pour in the buttermilk. Stir gently with a spatula until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  5. 5

    Shape Biscuits

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Pat it into a rectangle about 1-inch thick. Use a biscuit cutter or a glass to cut out rounds, placing them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  6. 6

    Bake

Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top.

  7. 7

    Cool

Remove the biscuits from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before serving.

Jams

  1. 8

    Prepare Jams

While the biscuits are baking, prepare your choice of jams. You can use store-bought strawberry and blueberry jams or make your own if desired.

  2. 9

    Serve

Once the biscuits have cooled slightly, serve 2 biscuits per person alongside the strawberry and blueberry jams. Enjoy!
