Dumpling Filling

Dumpling Wrappers

Method

Prepare Dumpling Filling

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, chopped shrimp, finely chopped mushrooms, green onions, minced garlic, minced ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

  2. 2

    Chill the Mixture

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the filling for at least 30 minutes. This helps to enhance the flavors and firm up the mixture.

Assemble the Dumplings

  1. 3

    Prepare the Wrappers

Take a shumai wrapper and place it in the palm of your hand. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the filling mixture into the center of the wrapper.

  2. 4

    Form the Dumplings

Gently fold the sides of the wrapper up around the filling while leaving the top open. Press lightly to seal and form a cup shape.

  3. 5

    Repeat

Repeat the process with the remaining wrappers and filling until all dumplings are formed.

Cooking the Dumplings

  1. 6

    Prepare the Steamer

Fill a steamer pot with water and bring it to a boil. Line the steamer baskets with parchment paper or cabbage leaves to prevent sticking.

  2. 7

    Steam the Dumplings

Place the assembled dumplings in the steamer basket, ensuring they are not touching each other. Cover and steam for about 15-20 minutes, or until the filling is cooked through and the wrappers are translucent.

  3. 8

    Serve

Remove the dumplings from the steamer and serve hot with soy sauce or chili oil for dipping.
