Tea Base

Tapioca Pearls

Method

Prepare Tea Base

  1. 1

    Brew Black Tea

In a saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Once boiling, remove from heat and add 2 tablespoons of black tea leaves. Let steep for about 5 minutes.

  2. 2

    Sweeten the Tea

After steeping, strain the tea leaves and add 2 tablespoons of sugar to the hot tea. Stir until the sugar dissolves, then let the tea cool to room temperature.

Cook Tapioca Pearls

  1. 3

    Prepare Water for Pearls

In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.

  2. 4

    Cook Tapioca Pearls

Once the water is boiling, add 1 cup of tapioca pearls. Stir gently to prevent sticking. Cook for about 15-20 minutes or until the pearls become translucent and chewy.

  3. 5

    Sweeten and Rinse Pearls

Once cooked, drain the pearls and rinse them under cold water. In a separate bowl, mix the pearls with 1 tablespoon of brown sugar to create a syrup. Let them sit for at least 10 minutes.

Assemble Bubble Tea

  1. 6

    Combine Ingredients

In a glass, add the cooked tapioca pearls at the bottom. Pour the cooled tea over the pearls, filling the glass about halfway.

  2. 7

    Add Milk and Ice

Add 1 cup of milk to the tea and stir gently. If desired, add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract for extra flavor. Top with ice cubes to fill the glass.

  3. 8

    Serve

Serve with a wide straw for sipping the pearls and enjoy your homemade bubble tea!
