Tonkotsu Ramen Components

Method

Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Prepare the Broth

In a large pot, bring the pork bone broth to a simmer over medium heat. Allow it to simmer gently while you prepare the other ingredients.

  2. 2

    Cook the Noodles

In a separate pot, bring water to a boil. Add the ramen noodles and cook according to package instructions, usually about 4-5 minutes. Drain and set aside.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Toppings

While the noodles are cooking, rinse the bean sprouts under cold water. If using chashu pork, slice it thinly. Prepare the soft-boiled egg by boiling it for 7 minutes, then cooling it in ice water and peeling.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Ramen

In a serving bowl, place a portion of the cooked ramen noodles. Ladle the hot pork bone broth over the noodles. Top with bean sprouts, pickled red onions, sliced chashu pork, and a soft-boiled egg cut in half.

  5. 5

    Finish with Oils and Garnish

Drizzle black garlic oil over the top and garnish with sliced green onions and a sheet of nori. Serve immediately.
