Method

Preparation

1

Prepare the Potatoes

Peel the Russet potatoes and cut them into equal-sized chunks (about 1-2 inches) to ensure even cooking.

2

Cook the Potatoes

Place the chopped potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add a pinch of salt and bring to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce to medium heat and let simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and easily pierced with a fork.

Mashing

3

Drain and Steam Dry

Once cooked, drain the potatoes in a colander and let them sit for a few minutes to allow excess moisture to evaporate.

4

Mash the Potatoes

Return the drained potatoes to the pot. Add the butter, milk, salt, and black pepper. Use a potato masher or a hand mixer to mash the potatoes until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning to taste.

Serving

5

Plate the Mashed Potatoes

Serve the mashed potatoes warm. If desired, add optional toppings such as shredded cheese, chopped green onions, or bacon bits for an additional charge.
