Cajun Shrimp Dinner
Method
Preparation and Cooking
- 1
Prepare the Shrimp
In a bowl, soak the fresh shrimp in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
- 2
Prepare the Cajun Flour
In a separate bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, Cajun seasoning, salt, and black pepper.
- 3
Bread the Shrimp
Remove shrimp from buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off, and dredge in the Cajun flour mixture until fully coated.
- 4
Prepare the Fries
Peel and cut the potatoes into fries. Soak them in cold water for 30 minutes, then drain and pat dry.
- 5
Fry the Fries
Heat oil in a deep pot or fryer to 350°F (175°C). Fry the potato fries until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 6
Fry the Shrimp
In the same oil, fry the breaded shrimp in batches for about 2-3 minutes or until golden and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 7
Serve
Plate the crispy Cajun shrimp alongside the seasoned fries and serve with spicy Cajun dipping sauce.
