Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Onions

Peel the onions and slice them into thick rings, about 1/2 inch wide. Separate the rings and set them aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually add the beer, mixing until smooth and free of lumps.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Batter the Onion Rings

Dip each onion ring into the batter, ensuring it is well-coated, and gently shake off any excess batter.

  5. 5

    Fry the Onion Rings

Carefully place the battered onion rings into the hot oil, a few at a time, and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the beer battered onion rings warm with ranch dressing on the side for dipping.
