Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Finely chop the onion, carrot, and celery. Mince the garlic and set all the vegetables aside.

  2. 2

    Cook the Meat

In a large skillet or saucepan, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the Wagyu ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Remove excess fat if necessary.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Sauté the Vegetables

Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery to the skillet with the beef. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are softened. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.

  2. 4

    Add Tomato Paste

Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 2 minutes, ensuring it coats the meat and vegetables evenly.

  3. 5

    Deglaze with Wine

Pour in the red wine, scraping the bottom of the skillet to release any flavorful bits. Let it simmer for 3-4 minutes until the wine is mostly evaporated.

  4. 6

    Combine with Tomatoes and Broth

Add the crushed tomatoes, beef broth, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and bay leaf to the skillet. Stir well and bring to a simmer.

  5. 7

    Simmer the Sauce

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. The flavors will deepen, and the sauce will thicken.

  6. 8

    Cook the Pasta

While the sauce is simmering, cook the spaghetti according to package instructions in a large pot of salted boiling water. Drain the pasta when al dente.

  7. 9

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Once the sauce has simmered, remove the bay leaf. Add the drained spaghetti to the sauce and toss until the pasta is well coated.

Serving

  1. 10

    Plate the Dish

Serve the Wagyu Bolognese in bowls. Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese and chopped fresh basil.
