Method
Ice Cream Base Preparation
- 1
Mix the Base Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whisk until the sugar is fully dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
- 2
Chill the Mixture
Cover the mixing bowl with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to chill. This helps improve the texture of the ice cream.
- 3
Churn the Ice Cream
Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
Adding Mix-ins
- 4
Incorporate the Mix-ins
During the last few minutes of churning, add the rainbow sprinkles and mini marshmallows to the ice cream base. Make sure they are evenly distributed.
Optional Seasonal Flavor Preparation
- 5
Add Seasonal Flavor
If desired, you can create a seasonal flavor by swirling in the fruit puree or adding chocolate chips after the ice cream has been churned. Do this gently to maintain texture.
Freezing and Serving
- 6
Transfer and Freeze
Transfer the churned ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours or overnight to firm up.
- 7
Serve
Once the ice cream has hardened, scoop into bowls or cones and enjoy your Caffe Panna ice cream topped with additional sprinkles or marshmallows if desired.
