Method

Chill & prepare

  1. 1

    Chill beer

Ensure the Tsingtao is well chilled. For best flavor chill in the refrigerator for at least 1–2 hours to reach 38–45°F (3–7°C). If you need it quicker, place the bottle or can in an ice-water bath for 10–15 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare glass

If using a glass, rinse it briefly under cold water or place it in the freezer for 5–10 minutes. A chilled glass keeps the beer colder longer and helps maintain head retention.

Pouring & serving

  1. 3

    Optional ice (not traditional)

If you prefer your beer extra cold and slightly diluted (a common practice for some beers in very warm climates), add 1/2 cup of ice to the glass. Note: adding ice alters flavor and carbonation.

  2. 4

    Open and pour

Use the bottle opener to remove the cap. Hold the glass at a 45° angle and begin pouring the beer gently down the side to minimize excess foam. When the glass is about two-thirds full, tilt upright and finish pouring into the center to create a 1/2 to 1-inch head of foam.

  3. 5

    Garnish and serve (optional)

If desired, rub a lime wedge around the rim or drop the wedge into the beer for a bright citrus note. Serve immediately while cold.

Storage & notes

  1. 6

If you don't finish the bottle, re-cork with a bottle stopper and refrigerate. Consume within 24 hours for best flavor and carbonation. Avoid prolonged storage of opened beer as it will go flat and oxidize.

  2. 7

Tsingtao is best enjoyed cold and poured gently to preserve its light, crisp profile. Avoid excessive agitation or very warm serving temperatures.
