Beer

Optional garnish & service

Method

Beer

  1. 1

Chill a 12- to 16-ounce beer glass in the freezer for 10–15 minutes or fill it with ice briefly to cool, then discard the ice. Alternatively, keep the bottle or can cold in the fridge until service.

  2. 2

Open the chilled bottle or can of imported lager carefully to preserve carbonation.

  3. 3

Tilt the chilled glass at about a 45-degree angle and pour the beer slowly down the side until it is about two-thirds full, then straighten the glass and pour to create a 1/2- to 1-inch head. Pouring slowly reduces excessive foam and preserves carbonation.

  4. 4

If you prefer your beer over ice (common in some tropical service styles), add 4 ice cubes to a tall glass and pour the beer directly over the ice. Note: pouring over ice will dilute and chill the beer more quickly.

Optional garnish & service

  1. 5

    Lime wedge (optional)

If desired, run a lime wedge around the rim and drop it into the glass or serve the wedge on the side for the drinker to squeeze. This brightens the flavor but is not required.

  2. 6

Serve immediately while cold. Recommend one 12 oz serving per person.
