Beer
Glassware & serving
Method
Prepare glass
- 1
Chill and inspect glass
If possible, chill the glass in the refrigerator or freezer for 10–20 minutes prior to serving. Inspect the glass for spots or residues and rinse with cold water if needed to preserve head retention.
- 2
Do not over-chill to the point of frost; a cold, slightly wet glass is ideal for Heineken.
Open beer
- 3
If using a bottle, hold the bottle firmly at the base and use the bottle opener to remove the cap. If using a can, place on a stable surface and lift the tab to open.
- 4
Briefly inspect the beer for any off-odor or cloudiness (aside from normal carbonation). Proper Heineken should be clear, pale-golden with steady carbonation.
Pouring & serving
- 5
- 6
Optional iced serving (not traditional)
If you prefer your beer very cold, add 2–4 ice cubes to the glass before pouring. Note: adding ice dilutes aroma and flavor as it melts and is not a traditional way to serve Heineken.
- 7
Garnish (optional)
If desired, serve with a lemon or lime wedge on the rim. Gently squeeze the wedge over the beer to add a hint of citrus, then drop it in or set it on the rim.
- 8
Serve immediately while cold. Encourage sipping to appreciate the light, slightly bitter hop profile and crisp finish.
Cleanup
- 9
Dispose of any remaining beer responsibly. Rinse glassware after use and allow to air dry or wash according to usual dishwashing practice.
