Method
Preparation
- 1
Chill bottle and glass
Place the Modelo in the refrigerator for several hours until well chilled (around 38–45°F / 3–7°C). If you prefer a very cold drink and the bottle is warm, you can chill it quickly by placing it in a bucket of ice and water for 10–15 minutes. Chill the glass in the fridge or freezer for 10–20 minutes if desired.
- 2
Optional ice
If you're serving in a very warm environment and like an extra-cold drink, add about 1/2 cup of ice to the bottom of the glass. Note: ice will dilute the beer as it melts and is not traditional.
Pouring
- 3
Hold the chilled glass at a 45-degree angle. Open the bottle and gently pour the Modelo down the side of the glass so it flows smoothly. When the glass is about three-quarters full, tilt it upright and pour down the center to create a 1/2–1 inch (1–2 cm) head of foam. This preserves carbonation and aroma.
Finishing
- 4
If you like, run a lime wedge around the rim and drop it into the glass (commonly done with Modelo Especial by some drinkers). Serve immediately while cold.
