Burger Patties

Burger Assembly

Method

Preparing the Patties

  1. 1

    Mix the Meat

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Use your hands to mix the ingredients until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the meat mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty that is slightly larger than the burger buns, as they will shrink while cooking.

Cooking the Patties

  1. 3

    Preheat Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the patties are cooked to your desired doneness.

Assembling the Burgers

  1. 5

    Prepare the Buns

While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and lightly toast them on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 6

    Layer the Ingredients

On the bottom half of each bun, place a layer of lettuce, followed by a cooked patty with melted cheese. Add slices of tomato and pickles on top, then drizzle with ketchup and mustard as desired. Top with the other half of the bun.
