Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Choose Your Bread

Select your preferred type of bread from sourdough, whole wheat, or rye. Lay out 2 slices on a clean surface.

  2. 2

    Cook the Eggs

In a non-stick skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Crack 2 eggs into the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and cook them sunny-side up or to your desired doneness.

  3. 3

    Cook Optional Proteins

If you are adding protein like bacon or turkey sausage, cook them according to package instructions in a separate pan until crispy or heated through.

  4. 4

    Add Cheese

During the last minute of cooking the eggs, place a slice of cheese on top of each egg to melt.

Assembly

  1. 5

    Assemble the Sandwich

Take one slice of bread and place the cooked eggs with melted cheese on it. If using, add the cooked bacon or turkey sausage on top of the eggs. Top with the second slice of bread.

  2. 6

    Serve

Cut the sandwich in half if desired, and serve immediately with your choice of side, such as fruit or a small salad.
