Cheese

Jalapenos

Butter

Method

Prepare Jalapenos

  1. 1

    Slice and Fry

Slice the jalapeno peppers in half lengthwise and remove the seeds. In a bowl, prepare a batter with flour, egg, and salt. Dip the jalapeno halves into the batter, then coat them with breadcrumbs.

  2. 2

    Fry Jalapenos

Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Carefully add the battered jalapeno halves to the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Prepare Cheese Sandwich

  1. 3

    Assemble Sandwich

On one slice of your choice of bread (sourdough or brioche), layer a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese followed by shredded Gouda cheese. Add the fried jalapenos on top of the cheese, and then top with another slice of bread.

  2. 4

    Butter the Outside

Spread butter generously on the outside of both slices of bread.

Grill Sandwich

  1. 5

    Grill Until Golden

Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place the sandwich on the skillet and grill until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 3-5 minutes per side. Press down gently with a spatula for even grilling.

  2. 6

    Serve

Once both sides are golden and the cheese is melted, remove the sandwich from the skillet. Let it sit for a minute, then slice in half and serve hot.
