Fish

Citrus Marinade

Seasoning

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preparing the Fish

Start by cutting the fresh fish into small, bite-sized cubes. Place the fish in a glass or ceramic bowl, avoiding metal containers as they can react with the acidity of the citrus.

  2. 2

    Marinating the Fish

Pour the fresh lime juice and lemon juice over the fish. Ensure that the fish is fully submerged in the juices. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes, or until the fish appears opaque and has 'cooked' in the citrus.

Mixing Ingredients

  1. 3

    Adding Vegetables

Once the fish is marinated, remove it from the refrigerator. Add the thinly sliced red onion, diced red bell pepper, chopped cilantro, and finely chopped jalapeño (if using) to the bowl.

  2. 4

    Seasoning

Sprinkle the salt and black pepper over the mixture. Gently toss all the ingredients together until well combined.

Serving

  1. 5

    Chill and Serve

Let the ceviche chill in the refrigerator for an additional 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Serve immediately, garnished with additional cilantro if desired.
