Base

Method

Base

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 2

    Prepare the Baking Pan

Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

  4. 4

    Cream Butter and Sugar

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

  5. 5

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract until well combined.

  6. 6

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.

  7. 7

    Spread in Pan

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

Topping

  1. 8

    Prepare Berries

In a separate bowl, combine the mixed berries, granulated sugar, and lemon juice. Gently toss to coat the berries evenly.

  2. 9

    Add Topping

Once the base is in the pan, evenly distribute the prepared berry mixture over the top of the batter.

Baking

  1. 10

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  2. 11

    Cool

Remove from the oven and allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Serving

  1. 12

    Slice and Serve

Once cooled, slice into squares or rectangles and serve as desired.
