Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Chop the mushrooms and onion. If using steak or chicken, cut it into bite-sized pieces. If using shrimp, ensure they are peeled and deveined.

Cooking the Protein

  1. 2

    Sauté the Protein

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add a tablespoon of oil. Once hot, add your choice of protein (steak, chicken, or shrimp) and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes for chicken and steak, and 3-4 minutes for shrimp. Remove from skillet and set aside.

Sautéing Vegetables

  1. 3

    Cook the Vegetables

In the same skillet, add a bit more oil if necessary and sauté the chopped onion and mushrooms until they are softened and lightly browned, about 5 minutes.

Combining and Flavoring

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

Return the cooked protein to the skillet with the sautéed mushrooms and onions. Pour in the hot sauce and stir to coat everything evenly. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.

  2. 5

    Add Cilantro and Chili

Stir in the chopped cilantro and crushed chili, mixing well to combine. Adjust seasoning with more hot sauce if desired.

Serving

  1. 6

    Assemble the Burrito

Warm the flour tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave. Place a generous scoop of the protein and vegetable mixture onto each tortilla, add a scoop of cooked rice and refried beans, then roll up tightly.

  2. 7

    Plate and Serve

Serve the burritos warm with extra hot sauce on the side if desired. Enjoy!
