Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Fish

In a bowl, mix the flour, cornmeal, salt, and pepper. In another bowl, beat the egg and milk together. Dip the fish fillets into the egg mixture, then coat them in the flour-cornmeal mixture.

  2. 2

    Fry the Fish

Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully place the coated fish fillets in the oil and fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  3. 3

    Cook the Fries

Prepare frozen French fries according to package instructions, either in the oven or deep fryer.

  4. 4

    Make the Hushpuppy Batter

In a bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, green onions, baking powder, sugar, and a pinch of salt. Add water and mix until just combined.

  5. 5

    Fry the Hushpuppies

Drop spoonfuls of the hushpuppy batter into hot oil (same as used for fish) and fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Serve

Plate the fried fish, golden fries, and hushpuppy. Enjoy!
