Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Waffle Iron

Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions. This usually takes about 5 minutes.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until well blended.

  3. 3

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, melted unsalted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl of dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined. The batter should be slightly lumpy; do not overmix.

Cooking

  1. 5

    Cook the Waffles

Once the waffle iron is preheated, lightly grease it with non-stick spray or a little melted butter. Pour the appropriate amount of batter onto the center of the waffle iron (usually about 1/2 to 2/3 cup, depending on the size of your waffle iron). Close the lid and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions, usually 3-5 minutes until golden brown.

  2. 6

    Serve

Carefully remove the waffle from the iron and serve immediately with your choice of optional toppings such as maple syrup, fresh fruits, or whipped cream.
