Method

Preparing the Pork

  1. 1

    Season the Pork

In a small bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Rub this spice mixture all over the pork shoulder, ensuring it is well coated.

  2. 2

    Slow Cook the Pork

Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a slow cooker. In a separate bowl, combine the BBQ sauce and apple cider vinegar, then pour the mixture over the pork. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.

  3. 3

    Shred the Pork

Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and place it on a large cutting board. Use two forks to shred the pork into bite-sized pieces. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix it with the remaining sauce.

Preparing the Fixings

  1. 4

    Make the Coleslaw

In a large bowl, combine the coleslaw mix with your favorite dressing. Toss until well coated and refrigerate until serving.

  2. 5

    Prepare the Pickles

Slice the pickles into thin rounds or spears for serving alongside the BBQ.

  3. 6

    Prepare the Buns

Toast the hamburger buns lightly on a grill or in a toaster if desired.

  4. 7

    Make the Cornbread

Prepare cornbread according to package instructions or your favorite recipe. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
