Method

Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Prepare the Patties

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Form into two equal-sized patties.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patties

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.

Caramelized Onions

  1. 3

    Caramelize the Onions

Slice the onion thinly. In a separate skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are golden brown and caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.

Fried Egg

  1. 4

    Fry the Eggs

In the same skillet used for the patties, melt butter over medium heat. Crack the eggs into the skillet and fry them to your liking (sunny side up or over easy).

Cheese and Sauce

  1. 5

    Prepare the Dijonnaise

In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise and Dijon mustard to make the dijonnaise sauce.

  2. 6

    Melt the Cheese

Once the patties are cooked, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover the skillet with a lid. Allow the cheese to melt for about 1-2 minutes.

Rosemary Roasted Potatoes

  1. 7

    Prepare the Potatoes

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Wash and halve the baby potatoes. In a bowl, toss them with olive oil, fresh rosemary, and salt.

  2. 8

    Roast the Potatoes

Spread the potatoes on a baking sheet in a single layer. Roast in the oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden and crispy, tossing halfway through.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 9

    Build the Burger

On a plate, place one cheesy patty, top it with caramelized onions, a fried egg, and a generous dollop of dijonnaise. Add the second patty on top.

  2. 10

    Serve

Serve the smashed burger melt alongside the rosemary roasted potatoes.
