Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil the Pasta

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the penne pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 10-12 minutes. Drain and set aside.

Shrimp & Tasso Preparation

  1. 2

    Sauté the Tasso and Vegetables

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced Tasso and sauté for about 2-3 minutes until it starts to brown. Then, add the minced garlic, diced onion, and diced red bell pepper. Cook for another 4-5 minutes until the vegetables are tender.

  2. 3

    Cook the Shrimp

Add the shrimp to the skillet. Sprinkle with Cajun seasoning and black pepper. Cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the shrimp turn pink and are cooked through.

  3. 4

    Make the Sauce

Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream. Stir to combine and allow the mixture to simmer for about 5 minutes, letting the sauce thicken slightly.

  4. 5

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the cooked penne pasta to the skillet, tossing gently to coat the pasta with the sauce. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and well incorporated.

  5. 6

    Garnish and Serve

Remove from heat and sprinkle with fresh parsley. Serve immediately, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese if desired.
